Moscow, Dushanbe completing Russian military base agreement procedures

Lavrov said no negotiations were underway over this issue because they had finished

DUSHANBE, January 17 (Itar-Tass) - Moscow and Dushanbe are completing the procedures for the agreement on the Russian military base in Tajikistan to come into force, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said here on Thursday after the meeting with his Tajik counterpart Khomrakhon Zavisi.

"The accords /on the status of the Russian military base in Tajikistan - eds Itar-Tass/ were reached in October 2012," the Russian diplomat reminded, "it's a substantial package; and the accords are implemented by package."

Lavrov said no negotiations were underway over this issue because they had finished. "The inter-state procedures necessary for the agreement to come into force are being completed both in Russia and Tajikistan," the minister said.
