MOSCOW, January 14 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Investigation Committee did not confirm the report that a love story could have been behind the murder of Irina Kabanova, 39, by her husband.
At the interrogations Alexei Kabanov “explained to the detectives that on January 2–3 all the family was staying at home, he really had a quarrel with his wife in the nighttime and during the family conflict, particularly caused by the shortage of money in the family, at first he began suffocating his wife with the cable, then he was stifling her with hands, after that he stabbed her and put her body in the bath to stop her sufferings, according to him,” spokesman for the Moscow investigation department of the Russian Investigation Committee Sergei Stukalov told Itar-Tass on Monday.
The man dissected the body of his wife and put it in the bags on the balcony, but all next day he was playing with children and showed the cartoons to them, so that they will not enter the bathroom. Only on January 6–7 he took away a bag with the dissected body of his wife and threw it in the recycle container in the neighbouring courtyard.
On January 10, Kabanov met with his female acquaintance, who came to support him, because she was sure that his wife went missing. Kabanov took a car from the woman and not explaining anything to the car owner was planning to take away all remaining parts of the body by car, but he failed to do it.
“Kabanova’s acquaintance, who owned the car, was already interrogated by the detectives and the detectives found that she was not informed about the crime,” Sergei Stukalov said.
Already on January 10, the operatives learnt about Kabanov’s acquisition of Skoda Fabia and in the evening on January 1 the flat of the family was searched through, as well as the car, in which the bags with the remains of the killed woman were found. After that her husband already pleaded guilty and showed, where he hid the passport and a mobile phone of his killed wife in the flat.
“After the detention and interrogation Kabanov confessed. He pleaded guilty of murder, but pretended to be in the state of affect at the moment of murder and said that he realized the public danger of his criminal actions,” the spokesman said.
“Despite his confession and the strong evidence of his involvement in the crime that the detectives already have, the investigation in the criminal case continues. All the testimony of the defendant will be checked thoroughly. A major scope of forensic expertises is to be conducted in the criminal case, including a complex psychological-psychiatric expertise will be scheduled soon,” Stukalov said.
