SEVEROMORSK, January 10 (Itar-Tass) — There are plans for spending 4 trillion rubles by 2020 on purchasing new ships for the Russian Navy, President Vladimir Putin said at a video conference with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

“The fleet’s renewal is one of the highest priorities of our efforts to strengthen the armed forces. Under the state program for armaments extending till 2020 over 4 trillion rubles will be spent to create up-to-date balanced submarine and surface groups,” Putin said.
