Newborn kidnapped from hospital in Irkutsk

This is the second kidnapping case of the newborn for the past month

IRKUTSK, January 10 (Itar-Tass) — The Irkutsk police are searching for a newborn, who was kidnapped from the Ivano-Matreninskaya children’s hospital. This is the second kidnapping case of the newborn for the past month.

“A woman in the medical gown that posed as the mother of a newborn, who is undergoing the medical examination, entered the ward at 14:00 local time on Thursday. The kidnapper said that on the instructions from the doctor she is to bring her daughter for the ultrasonic scanning, after that she escaped with the newborn,” the press service of the Irkutsk regional police department said.

The police reported that the mother of the little girl is a 32-year-old female resident from Irkutsk with previous convictions. The child was born on December 19, 2012, since then she did not visit the newborn, the police press service reported. She denied fully her involvement in the kidnapping of the child.

The police are studying the CCTV camera records at the Ivano-Matreninskaya hospital and announced a reward for the help in the search for the child.

Last December, a newborn girl was also kidnapped from the perinatal centre in Irkutsk under similar circumstances. Several hours later the police have found her alive and unhurt together with her female kidnappers, one of which intended to pose the child as her own child.
