Moscow authorities allow Opposition's January 13 march

The organizers accepted the route suggested by Town Hall, from Strastnoi Parkway to Sakharov Prospect /Avenue/from 13:00 to 16:30, MT, with 20,000 people taking part

MOSCOW, January 9 (Itar-Tass) — Moscow's Town Hall issued permission to the Opposition to hold the January 13 march, head of Town Hall's regional security department Alexei Maiorov told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

"The organizers accepted the route suggested by Town Hall, from Strastnoi Parkway to Sakharov Prospect /Avenue/, without crossing the Sadovoye Koltso ring road, from 13:00, Moscow time, to 16:30, Moscow time, with 20,000 people taking part," Maiorov said.

Initially, the Opposition, whose main slogans at the rally would be the demand for annulling the "anti-Magnitsky" law and dissolving the State Duma /parliament/, intended to march through central Moscow to the building of the lower house. But Town Hall offered them two other routes: along Frunzenskaya Embankment and from Strastnoi Parkway to Sakharov Prospekt.
