Two parachutists die in Komi Republic when making training jumps

At present, it is impossible to name the exact reasons of the accident involving experienced sportsmen

MOSCOW, January 9 (Itar-Tass) — Two parachutists died, when making training jumps from the height of 1,400 meters in the Komi Republic, northwestern Russia, the deputy head of the DOSAAF paramilitary sport organization, Viktor Chernov, told Itar-Tass on Wednesday.

The accident occurred at the airfield in the village of Adzherom, the Kortkerossky district.

“At present, it is impossible to name the exact reasons of the accident involving experienced parachutists. One parachutist made over 200 jumps and another one – around 1,000 jumps,” Chernov said.

“Most probably, they lost control over the height while making figures in the air. DOSAAF set up a special commission that left for Komi to investigate the accident. Preliminary conclusions will be made next week,” he said.
