Truck collides with electric train in Moscow region, one dies

None of train passengers were injured

MOSCOW, January 9 (Itar-Tass) — A truck has collided with a suburban electric train in Moscow Region. The incident occurred at 02:04 at the 125th kilometre of the Saveyolovo sector of the Moscow Railway. "Over there, at the railway leg between Sorevnovaniye and Bolshaya Volga stations a truck rode onto the tracks in defiance of the prohibitive traffic signal light and collided with a suburban electric train," a Moscow Ralway administration official told Itar-Tass.

According to preliminary information, the truck driver died in the incident. None of train passengers were injured. "One wheel bogie of the head coach of the train swerved off the rails following the collision," the railway official said. A damage control train is in operation at the scene of the collision, he added.

"In view of the low intensity of train traffic at night time, the incident did not affect electric train traffic schedule in that railway section," the railway official said in conclusion.
