Three die, one hurt in fire at penitentiary in Russia’s Vologda region

MOSCOW, January 7 (Itar-Tass) —— Three persons died and one was injured in a fire that broke out in a penitentiary in the Vologda region in northwest of Russia, a spokesman for the regional emergencies department told Itar-Tass on Monday.

According to the spokesman, the accident took place in penitentiary number 17 in the village of Sheksna. “A total of 50 prisoners were evacuated. Four were hospitalized with combustion products intoxication. Three of them later died,” the spokesman said.
