Patriarch Kirill recites Christmas Eve liturgy at Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral

MOSCOW, January 6 (Itar-Tass) —— Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Kirill on Sunday recited Christmas Eve liturgy at Moscow’s Christ the Savior Cathedral.

“The great mystery of the incarnation of God helps us comprehend the purport of human history,” he said. “It is not in getting richer to gain more power, neither is it in conquering other peoples as many might have thought or be still thinking. The purport of history is to know the divine will, to discover God’s design of the world and the man.”

The Patriarch expressed the hope that the celebration of the Nativity of Christ would strengthen people’s confidence in the salvational mission of Christ, who was born for us and our salvation.
