Organizers of January 13 Opposition action seek to march through Bolotnaya Square

The Moscow authorities are expected to reply to the new proposals by the march organizers on January 9

MOSCOW, January 3 (Itar-Tass) — The organizers of the January 13 march offered the Moscow authorities two alternative routes running through central Moscow, Pyotr Tsarkov, one of the organizers, told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

"One is from Kaluga Square along Yakimanka, with passage through Bolotnaya Square and the point of destination at Baluchuga; the second is from Trubnaya Square through parkways, with the point of destination at the Kropotkinskaya subway station," Tsarkov said.

Initially, the Opposition and civil activists planned to a march demanding the annulment of the "anti-Magnitsky bill" from Kaluga Square to the State Duma /parliament/ or from the Belarussian railway station along Tverskaya Street to the State Duma.

However, Town Hall offered them two other routes: one from Frunzenskaya Embankment and another from Strastnoi Parkway to Sakharov Avenue.

"This time, we decided that it is important to have a coordinated action which must be in the center of the city, so the Frunzenskya Embankment option does not suit us. Marching through parkways to Sakharov Avenue is not good either, because it would be the same route for the third time running; a new route is expected to introduce certain novelty," Tsarkov said.

The Moscow authorities are expected to reply to the new proposals by the march organizers on January 9.
