Repair teams find place of Ukhta-Torzhok gas pipeline rupture

No injuries were reported

MOSCOW, December 28 (Itar-Tass) — There has been a rupture on the Ukhta – Torzhok pipeline in the Tver Region. The press service of the Central Regional Centre of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) told Itar-Tass that the rupture place has been found on the 1,241th kilometre of the pipeline. “The length of the rupture was 10-15 metres,” the source said.

Gas is currently supplied to consumers from reserve facilities. The emergency repair efforts have been underway at the site.

Earlier, the EMERCOM main department for the Tver Region said that at about midnight reports came about the rupture and subsequent gas ignition on the Ukhta - Torzhok main gas pipeline. By the time of arrival of the emergency services and fire fighters the emergency section was shut off and the gas burned out. No injuries were reported.
