Subaru driver knocking down two people to death in Moscow was alcoholic intoxicated

As much as 0.9 per mille of alcohol was found in his blood

MOSCOW, December 27 (Itar-Tass) — The Subaru driver, who knocked down two women to death in south-western Moscow, was drunk at the moment of the road accident, the press service of the Moscow police department reported on Thursday.

“As much as 0.9 per mille of alcohol was found in the blood of the driver, who ran down to death two women in the Vernadsky Avenue,” the press service reported.

The suspect is about to be detained for 48 hours under Article 91 of the Criminal Code.

It was reported before that three people in the Subaru car at the moment of the road accident were detained. According to the law enforcement agencies, well-known car racer Grigory Surlye was behind the wheel of the car. The man came back to the road accident site himself and confessed that he was driving the foresaid car, the source said.

“Surlye and one more passenger of the car were convoyed for intoxication tests, which will find exactly whether they were in the condition of drug and alcoholic intoxication,” the source said, noting that Surlye was drug intoxicated according to the medical symptoms.

The third participant in the road accident was brought to the first city clinical hospital, where he will pass intoxication tests as well.

“Meanwhile, the police are identifying another person, who was killed in the road accident. His body is distorted, therefore, it is impossible yet even to say whether it is a man or a woman,” the source said.

The road accident occurred at about 06:20 Moscow time on Thursday at 70, Vernadsky Avenue. The Subaru driver ran down a woman, who was crossing the road, and escaped. The wounded woman died of wounds instantaneously. The police that arrived at the road accident site at 97, Vernadsky Avenue, found the abandoned car with the traces of mechanical damages. Meanwhile, a person was found dead at the car.
