MOSCOW, December 27 (Itar-Tass) — According to the preliminary reports, well-known car racer Grigory Surlye was behind the wheel of the car, which knocked down to death two people in Moscow. The police suspect that the man was in the drug intoxication condition, the Russian law enforcement agencies told Itar-Tass on Thursday.

The man came back to the road accident site himself for further investigation actions and said that he was behind the wheel of the car, a source in the law enforcement agencies said. “Surlye and one more passenger of the car were convoyed for drug tests that will find out whether they were in the condition of drug or alcoholic intoxication,” the source said, noting that Surlye was in the condition of drug intoxication according to his medical symptoms.

The third participant in the road accident was brought to the first city clinical hospital, where he will pass the drug tests as well.

“Meanwhile, the police are identifying another person, who was killed in the road accident. His body is distorted, therefore, it is impossible yet even to say, whether this is a man or a woman,” the source said.

The road accident occurred at about 06:20 Moscow time on Thursday at 70, Vernadsky Avenue. The Subaru driver knocked down to death a woman, who was crossing the street, and escaped. The injured woman died of wounds instantaneously. The police that arrived at the road accident site at 97, Vernadsky Avenue, have found the abandoned car with the traces of mechanical damages. Meanwhile, another person was found dead at the car.
