Orders for new family of Ilyushin aircraft may reach 1 trln roubles

New aircraft will be widely exported, the head of Ilyushin Design Bureau, Viktor Livanov,emphasized

MOSCOW, December 26 (Itar-Tass) — A backlog of orders for a new family of the aircraft designed on the basis of the Ilyushin Il-476 transport plane may total 1 trillion roubles, the head of Ilyushin Design Bureau, Viktor Livanov, told Arms-Tass on Wednesday.

On October 4 Russia’s Defence Ministry and United Aircraft Corporation signed a 140 billion rouble contract for the supply of 39 Il-476 transport planes to the Russian armed forces.

“However, this is just the beginning. According to our estimates, taking into account the production of the whole family designed on the basis of Il-476, including the promising Il-78 aerial refueling tanker, the backlog of orders for new transport planes will reach 1 trillion roubles in the near future,” Livanov said.

He emphasized that the new aircraft will be widely exported.
