MOSCOW, December 25 (Itar-Tass) — The Investigative Committee /SK/ has established the identity of two persons suspected of the murder of rector of State Academy of Agriculture Boris Zherukov, SK spokesman Vladimir Markin told Tass.
"During initial investigation, SK and Federal Security Service personnel ascertained the suspects' identifies. Their names will not be disclosed in the interests of the investigation," Markin said.
SK chief Alexander Bastrykin is personally monitoring the probe.
Two unidentified persons walked into Zherukov's office in Nalchik at around 10:50, Moscow time, on Tuesday, and shot and killed him. He died of his wounds on the spot.
Zherukov, 58, has led the United Russia faction at the republic's parliament. He was dean of the agronomy department since 1993, chairman of a Thesis Board, and pro-rector for economic work and external relations before his appointment as president of Kabardino-Balkaria's state academy of agriculture. He is merited scientist of Russia and Kabardino-Balkaria.
