Russian motorship drifting, de-energized, in Sea of Japan

VLADIVOSTOK, December 24 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian motorship Samarga got into an emergency situation in the Sea of Japan (East Sea) on Monday. The high-powered tugboat Lazurit has been sent out from Vladivostok in aid to to the fully deenergized motorship which has no way.

The tugboat is to cover 200 miles to reach the area where the ship is drifting. The tugboat is to approach the ship in distress on December 25.

According to a report by Vladivostok harbour master Alexander Kuvshinov, yet another Russian ship , which is 65 miles away from the stricken ship, is hurrying to help the ship in distress.

The atmosphere on borad the ship in distress is stable. Everything is normal with the crew. Weather in the distress area is as follows: wind velocity is up to 15 metres per second, and waves are two metres high.
