MOSCOW, December 20 (Itar-Tass) — Chairman of the Investigative Committee (SK) of Russia believes it is only natural that the fight against corruption is coming to the top echelons of power. He expressed his opinion in an interview to the Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper published on the website of the daily on Thursday.
“The fight against corruption has taken shape. I can say that its next stage has been launched,” he pointed out. “As rightly been once said, this fight earlier affected small or medium-ranking officials. But it does not mean at all that the law enforcement authorities have intentionally started to ‘whip up’ for the New Year all the high-profile cases against high-ranking officials.”
“That’s how the operational-search and procedural activities of the investigating authorities have formed. As they say, nobody has been preparing anything specially for the dinner,” said Bastrykin.
“And the fact that we are approaching the top echelons of power – it’s high time to do this. So it should be done,” he said.
