Arkhangelsk court cancels again verdict to reduce term in prison to Platon Lebedev

Thus, the cassation appeal of the prosecutor’s office was satisfied

ARKHANGELSK, December 14 (Itar-Tass) —— The criminal penal of the Arkhangelsk Regional Court cancelled again the verdict to reduce the term in prison for former MENATEP CEO Platon Lebedev on Friday.

Thus, the cassation appeal of the prosecutor’s office was satisfied, as the latter appealed against “an excessive reduction of the sentence” to the convicted businessman by the Velsk District Court.

On November 1, the court of first instance ruled to reduce the term in prison from 13 to 10 years to Lebedev, who was convicted of oil misappropriation and money laundering, over the amendments in several articles of the Russian Criminal Code. The lawyer also appealed against this ruling of the prosecutor’s office. The lawyer demanded that his client should be sentenced to “the term in prison that he had already served in prison at the moment of the cassation appeal on the current petition.”
