Ukraine’s president nominates Nikolai Azarov for prime minister

Earlier, the president promised to nominate a candidate for prime minister before his state visit to Indie on December 9 through 12

KIEV, December 9 (Itar-Tass) —— Ukraine’s President Viktor Yanukovich has nominated Nikolai Azarov for the post of Prime Minister and submitted his candidature to the Verkhovna Rada, or parliament, the presidential website reported on Sunday.

Earlier, the president promised to nominate a candidate for prime minister before his state visit to Indie on December 9 through 12.

On December 3, Yanukovich sent Azarov’s government to resignation and obliged the former ministers to perform their duties until a new government is formed. According to sources in the presidential administration, among candidate for prime minister were chairman of the Ukrainian National Bank Sergei Arbuzov and secretary of the country’s Security Council Andrei Klyuyev.
