Russian Emergencies Ministry to honor its heroes on Sunday

The prize winners include rescuers, firefighters, sappers, divers, psychologists, dog experts, doctors and mine rescuers of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations

MOSCOW, December 9 (Itar-Tass) — The Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations will on Sunday announce the winners of the fourth “Constellation of Courage” festival. By tradition, the winners are announced on December 9 marked as Day of Russian Heroes.

The holiday was established in 2007 to honor Heroes of the USSR and the Russian Federation, the cavalries of the Order of St. George and the holders of the Order of Glory of three degrees.

The decoration ceremony will take place at the Moscow Palace of Youth.

The idea to hold the first “Constellation of Courage” festival that unites the military, law enforcers, journalists and general public for the cause of saving people belongs to Sergei Shoigu, the first head of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations.

The prize winners include rescuers, firefighters, sappers, divers, psychologists, dog experts, doctors and mine rescuers of the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations.

Besides, the best journalistic and photo works will be named. Prizes will also be awarded in a special nomination for representatives of agencies cooperating with the Ministry for Emergency Situations (Fellowship for Salvation) and the “Call of the Heart” nomination for volunteers.

The best young rescuer will be announced in the “Children Heroes” nomination.

The festival has already become popular. The number of participants is growing from year to year, and the Builder of the Ministry for Emergency Situations statuette which is traditionally awarded to the winners has become a prestigious prize.
