Zyuganov's opponents cannot nominate candidate to be party leader

According to Obukhov, they cannot nominate their candidates, since they are not members of the party, or they were earlier expelled from the party

MOSCOW, December 8 (Itar-Tass) —— The people who have demanded Gennady Zyuganov should step down as CPRF leader are not members of the party and cannot nominate their candidate at the congress in February, the party's Central Committee Secretary and State Duma member Sergei Obukhov told Itar-Tass.

Ten regional party conferences are held at present. More than 500 party members attend the Moscow conference. All express support for Zyuganov, he said.

"A group of citizens who are not party member can gather and express their attitude to anyone, even if to the U.N. secretary-general," Obukhov added.

Media reported earlier about a meeting of communists who intended to demand resignation of Zyuganov and other party leaders at the CPRF congress in February .

According to Obukhov, they cannot nominate their candidates, since they are not members of the party, or they were earlier expelled from the party.
