Car runs down two persons at crosswalk in Moscow suburb, one die

MOSCOW, December 7 (Itar-Tass) — One person was killed as a motor car ran down two people at a crosswalk in a southeastern Moscow suburb, a police source told Itar-Tass on Friday.

The accident took place in the Zhulebino district on Friday. The car ran down two people crossing the street by a crosswalk and later hit four cars. One of the pedestrians was killed.

On Thursday, Moscow’s traffic police staged an operation entitled “Pedestrian.” More than 2,000 cases of violations of traffic rules by pedestrians by drivers were registered. Apart from that, as many as 568 fines were issues to drivers who did not stop at crosswalks to let pedestrians go by.

According to police statistics, up to ten running-down accident are registered a day.
