RF proposes G20 discussing measures to stimulate econ growth

The Russian president said this in his special address in connection with the beginning of the Russian G20 presidency on December 1

MOSCOW, December 1 (Itar-Tass) —— Russian President Vladimir Putin proposes the G20 should work out measures stimulating economic growth and creating jobs and also modernizing state borrowing systems.

The Russian president said this in his special address in connection with the beginning of the Russian G20 presidency on December 1.

"We see the main task of Russia's presidency in the concentration of G20 efforts to work out measures stimulating economic growth and creating jobs. For what is this needed? For us, the answer is clear -- it is stimulation of investments, confidence and transparency at markets and effective regulation," the Russian leader said. With the priorities taken into consideration, all the G20 traditional agenda topics would be under discussion, he added.

Among the topics are the state of world economy, the implementation of the framework agreement to ensure steady and balanced growth, support for employment, reforming of the currency system and the system of financial regulation and control, stability of global energy markets, the international development promotion, consolidation of multilateral trade and counteraction against corruption.

Putin noted that Moscow proposed to discuss two new topics -- financing of investments as a basis of economic growth and creation of jobs and modernization of national systems of government borrowing and sovereign debt control.

Thus, the Russian presidency will ensure the fulfillment of the G20 earlier assumed obligations and the agenda succession and at the same time will propose its approaches to the agenda consideration, Putin said.
