Private evening honored to the exhibition "Icons of modern art" in Paris

Moscow, February 22, 2017 /The Pushkin Sate Museum of Fine Arts /. 20th of February in Paris was held the private evening organized by Foundation Louis Vuitton and The Pushkin Sate Museum of Fine Arts. The event was dedicated to the exhibition “Icons of Modern Art. The S.I. Shchukin Collection” – the spectacular reconstruction of the collection of Moscow art patron Sergey Ivanovich Shchukin.

The exhibition “The icons of Modern Art” is the unique project that was made possible through the collaboration of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, The State Hermitage and Foundation Louis Vuitton.

The exhibition is devoted to the famous Russian merchant Sergey Shchukin, one of the biggest collectors of the Modern French Art in the XX century. With the help of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the State Hermitage, one hundred thirty masterpieces from the Shchukin collection were compiled into the one exhibition.

“This is an outstanding exhibition regarding both: its realization and the set tasks. It is so important for us primarily  because it is telling about the great art collector of the XX century. In my opinion, he can be considered as the greatest one not only in scale of Russia but also of the world.” – says the Director of Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, Marina Loshak

The President Adviser Mr. Jean-Paul Claverie believes that “this collection is the Russian national treasure and one of the most beautiful collections of modern art in the world!”

“The Culture erases the borders and resolves the conflicts. More than one million people visited the exhibition in Paris during the four months; the next shows are in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. The museums should open the new opportunities for communication, to inspire the visitors, to share the history with them and moreover, to save the cultural heritage”, - adding Marina Loshak.

The guests of the dinner, among them the Head of the group of companies Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy Mr. Bernard Arnault, shared their impressions about the exhibition and discussed plans to further cooperation, support and promotion of the new cultural initiatives.

The event was attended by Catherine Pegard, Director ot the Versailles Museum, Florence and Daniel Guerlain, Tatyana and Valentin Yumashev, Jean-Paul Claverie, Director of the LVF, patrons of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts: Andrey Cheglakov, Nino and Shalva Breus, Tatiana and Vassiliy Peganov, Alexander Dzhaparidze, Azamat Kumykov and many others.
