The World Economic Forum Moscow Meeting was held on 13 December 2016 with the support of the Roscongress Foundation. The meeting was attended by business leaders from Russian and international companies, senior managers, state dignitaries, and global experts, including Nikolai Nikiforov, Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation; Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank Russia; Dmitry Konov, Chairman of the Management Board for both SIBUR and SIBUR Holding; Alexey Mordashov, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Severstal; and Murat Sönmez, Chief Business Officer and Member of the Managing Board, World Economic Forum.
The plenary session focused on the question of leadership strategy in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its impact on Russia. “No industry will be left untouched by the new technologies”, said Herman Gref. “IT ‘gobbles up’ a new sector every week. There are only two possibilities: sit back and wait for it to happen or engage in transformation.”
Participants also discussed potential strategies for business, the role of leaders of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in creating a system of social values, and its impact on governments.
On the sidelines of the meeting, it was announced that Russia House ’17 will be open for business during the 2017 World Economic Forum. The official residence of the Russian mission in Davos will be organized by Ulmart and the Roscongress Foundation.
“The goal of Russia House is to change the way Russia and Russian companies are perceived abroad”, explained Alexander Stuglev, CEO of the Roscongress Foundation. “Business discussions and meetings in different formats concentrating on the role of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the development of the investment climate in Russia are planned for Russia House. Russia House will also be hosting a special presentation on the 21st St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will take place from June 1 to 3, 2017.” Members of the official Russian delegation and Forum participants from other countries will take part in the events at Russia House.
