The Fifth Fuding White Tea Harvest Festival Opens

FUDING, China, April 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/. The hometown of white tea, Fuding City of southeast China's Fujian Province drew tourists' attention with the white tea's aroma and She ethnic minority's folk songs as the Fifth Fuding White Tea Harvest Festival opened in March.

Young men and women from the She ethnic minority dressed in traditional costumes sang their folk songs in contest while picking tea leaves in tea plants in Panxi Town, which appealed to journalists, tourists and photograph lovers who were awed by the beautiful scene and posted pictures online instantly. Once a tribute to emperors, the Fuding white tea is now popular for its health benefits and attended the Milan 2015 Expo and was awarded a gold prize for famous Chinese tea.

The name "white tea" comes from the fine silvery-white hairs on the unopened buds of the tea plant, which gives the plant a whitish appearance.

The Fifth Fuding White Tea Harvest Festival was hosted by China Tea Marketing Association, China International Tea Culture Research Institute, China Tea Academy and China Cross-Strait Tea Industry Association and was organized by the local government of Fuding City.
