Johnson Controls Presents Innovations Automotive Megatrends at the Frankfurt Motor Show

Increasing individualization, further CO2 reductions and the challenges of future autonomous driving - Johnson Controls will address these global automotive trends at the 66th International Motor Show in Frankfurt (IAA 2015). The global multi-industrial company will be showcasing automotive seating and battery innovations that meet future customer needs.

At IAA 2015, the company will present a new vehicle interior concept that addresses these trends - the Seating Demonstrator SD15. The innovative SD15 offers enhanced comfort, personalization options and other unique features, that can also be used in autonomous vehicles.

For the first time in Europe, Johnson Controls will debut its new 12-volt Lithium-ion battery technology, which will help automakers meet increasing fuel efficiency and emission reduction regulations.

"Johnson Controls is partnering with our global customers on evolutionary energy storage systems, like Advanced Start-Stop, that will be the next generation of low-cost fuel economy technology for European drivers," said Lisa Bahash, group vice president and general manager Original Equipment, Johnson Controls Power Solutions.

In addition to the SD15 and new battery technology, highlights of Johnson Controls' 644-square-meter exhibit in hall 5.1 at the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds include:

  • Answers to future challenges facing passenger vehicle and truck seats from autonomous driving. Intelligent seating systems which already reduce weight and complexity today while also anticipating the requirements of tomorrow through exceptional design and improved functionality
  • Current RECARO premium automotive seats with the latest developmental stage of the pioneering RECARO Sport Seat Platform (RSSP), which is setting standards through lightweight construction, modularity and individual design
  • Battery technology to power nearly every type of vehicle for our customers - including conventional, Start-Stop, Advanced Start-Stop, Micro Hybrid, hybrid and electric

The IAA 2015 - one of the world's largest autoshows - opens to journalists and media representatives on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16.
