SAN FRANCISCO, May 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - Smile, the developer of productivity applications for Mac, iPad and iPhone, has released TextExpander 5 for Mac, a major upgrade to the popular typing shortcut tool, which lets you type abbreviations that expand to whole paragraphs, images and more. TextExpander 5 suggests which frequently typed phrases to abbreviate, saving time. Search on your abbreviations as you type to speed text entry.

In addition to a fresh Yosemite look, TextExpander 5 adds the ability to store your snippets in a location of your choice, and sync via iCloud Drive or any sync folder. It reminds you when you could have used abbreviations; adds JavaScript snippets that expand programmatically; all with a fresh stats display so that you know how much time TextExpander has saved you.

TextExpander already lets you create short, expandable abbreviations for email signatures, standard greetings, formatted text and pictures. It comes with autocorrect libraries in English, French, and German to correct your typing in all apps.

"I love how TextExpander 5 tells me what I repeatedly type, and saves me from doing so in the future," said Smile founder, Philip Goward. "TextExpander 5 is indispensable for anyone communicating by email and social media."

TextExpander 5 has a companion app for iPad and iPhone, TextExpander 3 + custom keyboard. Sync all your snippets to your iPad and iPhone and type faster in all apps.

TextExpander is €40,95 on the Smile Store and requires a Mac running OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or later. Upgrades for current TextExpander users are €18,17. Demo versions are available at

For iPad and iPhone: TextExpander 3 + custom keyboard is €4,99 on the iTunes App Store.
