WINNIPEG, Manitoba, June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Intelligent Hospital Systems (IH Systems), maker of the RIVA fully-automated IV compounding system, today announced a distribution agreement with Simeks in Istanbul, Turkey. The healthcare solutions provider, which also has offices in Izmir and Ankara, will serve as IH Systems' exclusive distributor in Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Iraq, further increasing RIVA's reach with hospitals and others.
"As a knowledgeable and reputable supplier of healthcare and medical technology products, Simeks will create additional opportunities in Turkey and other countries for the adoption of RIVA's best-in-class, automated pharmacy solutions," said Dr. Niels Erik Hansen, president and CEO of IH Systems. "The addition of RIVA to Simeks' current product portfolio will allow it to offer a full suite of automated products for the hospital pharmacy, and build upon the Total Dose Solution platform IH Systems has developed over the past several years."
Since its introduction in 2008, installed RIVA systems have safely and accurately prepared millions of medication doses globally, with units sold in the United States, Canada, Australia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. Using USP<797>-compliant technology, RIVA processes individual or batch doses in an ISO Class 5 environment and is the only system with true, extended walk-away capability.
"IH Systems' industry leading automated IV compounding system is an important addition to our best-in-class medical equipment and technology offering, in a product category for which there is growing demand," said Bahar Sunman of Simeks' board of directors. "Turkish healthcare providers are increasingly focused on implementing the world's most innovative technology to deliver the best patient care possible. RIVA allows us to offer hospital pharmacies a full end-to-end automation solution, while ensuring our clients' patients receive safe and accurate medications."
RIVA's ability to manage extended production runs with no staff intervention required enables hospital pharmacies to prepare specific medication doses ahead of orders, significantly reduce waste and enhance efficiency. The system lowers the cost-per-dose of medication and provides a complete electronic audit trail that identifies and labels every dispensed dose.
