Russia–Bulgaria: new cooperation horizons

Moscow hosted the meeting between Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, and Atanas Krastin, Bulgarian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Russian Federation.

The participants of the meeting touched upon the possibility of Bulgarian high-level delegation’s participation in the events of the Roscongress Foundation in 2019. Anton Kobyakov invited representatives of Bulgaria’s business community to join the Russian Investment Forum (14–15 February, Sochi) (6+), the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum  (6–8 June 2019, St. Petersburg) (6+), and the Russian Energy Week (1–5 October 2019, St. Petersburg) (6+), as well as to turn their attention to other events hosted in Russian regions and outside of Russia that offer regular meetings between business leaders, development institutes and local authorities throughout the year.

“Russia and Bulgaria maintain contacts on a high level. That’s why we encourage representatives of Bulgaria’s business community and public business associations to form partnerships with us, which will give them a chance to take part in the events of the Roscongress Foundation, and we could come up with a participation format for small and medium businesses of your country at the biggest events in Russia. For example, we could consider Bulgaria’s participation as a guest country of SPIEF 2019. This status provides an opportunity to place the country’s pavilion at the Forum venue. I am confident that such a format will help demonstrate Bulgaria’s opportunities for foreign investors from Russia and any of the 143 countries traditionally participating in SPIEF to the Forum participants,” emphasized Anton Kobyakov.

In his turn, Mr. Ambassador noted that forums of the Roscongress Foundation can become a solid base for developing business ties at the level of officials and business leaders of our countries. “For example, Bulgaria has the Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion Agency and InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA), which actively take part in organizing and hosting business forums in our country during official visits and meetings of intergovernmental commissions, help with establishing contacts with largest companies, as well as representatives of small and medium businesses. In case of potential institutionalization between them and the Roscongress Foundation, we could form serious business delegations for the above-mentioned events,” summarized Mr. Krastin.

The parties agreed to continue joint consultations upon determining Bulgaria’s participation format in 2019 events.

The Roscongress Foundation is a socially oriented non-financial development institution and a major organizer of international conventions, exhibition and public events.

The Roscongress Foundation was founded in 2007 with the aim of facilitating the development of Russia’s economic potential and strengthening the country’s image by organizing international conventions, exhibitions, and public events. The Foundation develops substantive content for such events, providing companies and organizations with advice, information, and expert guidance, and offering comprehensive evaluation, analysis, and coverage of the Russian and global economic agendas. It offers administrative services and promotional support for business projects and helps to attract investment, including in the form of public-private partnerships.

Today, its annual programme includes events held from Montevideo to Vladivostok, offering an opportunity to bring together global business leaders, experts, the media, and government officials in one place, creating favourable conditions for dialogue and the promotion of new ideas and projects, and assisting in the creation of social enterprise and charity projects.
