First culture digitalization laboratory in the world - at the business venue of the SPBICF

For the first time, at the Business Venue of the VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum, the CultTech Lab Russia will be opened. It is an international laboratory where the best startups from Russia and Europe will develop and present innovative solutions for the leading cultural organizations of our country. Winners will get a chance of quick implementation of their solutions. Among the tasks assigned to IT developers are: creation of a blockchain-based system for ticket selling, educational games using AR and VR, a loyalty system using biometric recognition and many other things. The partner participants include the Tretyakov Gallery, the GULAG History Museum, Tovstonogov Bolshoi Drama Theater, Moscow Philharmonic Society, Perm Opera and Ballet Theater.

As envisioned by the project organizers - the RDI.Digital company - international laboratory CultTech Lab will provide start-ups with real practical tasks, give an opportunity to talented developers to demonstrate their solutions to the general public, and offer a chance for the cultural organizations to become closer to the audience by means of the latest technologies and services.

For the Tretyakov Gallery, participation in the project is an opportunity to work with young innovative teams that are already interested in cooperating with the museum, as Tatyana Mrdulyash, the Tretyakov Gallery Deputy Director for Development, told about this. “Since the creation of a new concept for the development of the museum in 2015, we began to treat online space as one more our platform. We hope many visitors have felt it. In 2017, we launched a new museum website, we are constantly working on the development of social networks. We want to make a bright ambitious project in the online space, which will help the Tretyakov Gallery to get closer to visitors from around the world. We have a unique collection and knowledge about it, and technology will allow us to share this treasure with a huge number of people around the world. This is a big challenge, but together with our visitors and partners, I am sure we will succeed,” she noticed.

According to the general producer of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater Marc de Mauny, the participation in CultTech Lab Russia is the answer to the current context. “Contemporary theater should develop in all directions, use the latest technologies in its work and introduce high-tech developments. About half of the viewers choose to purchase tickets on the theater website, many viewers interact with social networks actively. Our theater is included in the top happiest places in Perm. Taking care of the audience, we develop services that simplify their lives, save time, and make the process of interaction with the theater comfortable. At the same time, the theater should remain a special place with a unique atmosphere in the perception of people, the place where you want to come personally and certainly to return,” the expert emphasized.

CultTech Lab Russia will be held in two stages: November 14-15, in Moscow, within 48 hours, 10 development teams selected by RDI.Digital experts at the preliminary stage from more than 70 applications received from 9 countries will improve their solutions together with representatives of cultural institutions. The second stage of the laboratory will be held on November 17. The participants will present the results of their work at the Business Venue of the VII St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum. It is expected that guests and participants of the Forum will be presented with prototypes of a high degree of readiness or already fully working solutions. On the same day, the winner award ceremony will be held.
