OPCW mission must be sent to Syria as soon as possible — Russian diplomat

A Russian diplomat comments on the situation in Syria

MOSCOW, April 12. /TASS/. The process of sending a mission of the OPCW to Syria must be accelerated instead of attempts at muscle flexing, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told TASS in an exclusive commentary on Thursday.

"We insist that those who are impatient to show military muscle should take a look at the situation once again from the standpoint of what the imperatives of today are," he said. "Sending OPCW experts to that suburb of Damasacus are among these imperatives. Certain progress along these lines has begun, but it is rather slow. We believe that this process should be accelerated."

Washington's version of the chemical incident in Syria's Douma will crumble under OPCW expert scrutiny, he said.

"After the OPCW experts arrive at the scene, they will gather facts to establish what really happened there," he noted. "I am confident that this version, which is imposed on the global community by the US and its allies, will just come apart.".
