MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has accepted his North Korean counterpart Ri Yong-ho’s invitation to visit Pyongyang, as he himself said following a meeting with the North Korean top diplomat on Tuesday.
"The minister invited me to make a return visit to Pyongyang. We have accepted the invitation," Lavrov said.
Lavrov said he did not discuss possible contacts between the two countries’ leaders at talks with Ri Yong-ho.
"Today we did not discuss these issues," Lavrov said.
"Both leaders regularly exchange messages. I’m convinced that when they consider this the best possible and advisable, they will discuss a possibility of a personal contact," he stressed.
According to Lavrov, the parties thoroughly discussed the current state of bilateral relations at Tuesday’s meeting. "We discussed our cultural and humanitarian ties and agreed that the general level of cooperation is good. We also touched upon other aspects of our cooperation, particularly within international organizations, including the United Nations. We are very satisfied with the talks," the Russian top diplomat said.
