WASHINGTON, April 6. /TASS/. Washington will not succeed in its efforts to split Russian society through the imposition of sanctions, the Russian Embassy in the US said on Friday
"We perceive the US striving to split Russian society in these sanctions but nothing will come out of it," the commentary said. "Our country has always united around its leader in times of pressures from the outside."
The Embassy recalled that the impressive majority of Russian voters vested their trust in President Vladimir Putin in the March 18 presidential election.
Earlier on Friday, the US Administration made public introduction of sanctions against 38 Russian individuals and legal entities, including the state weaponry trading corporation Rosoboronexport, the Russian Financial Corporation and the producer of nonferrous metals Rusal.
Washington again mentioned Crimea’s reunification with Russia, the alleged fanning of violence in eastern Ukraine, support for the legitimate Syrian government, supplies of weaponry and materiel to Syria, and illicit activities in cyberspace as the motifs for the anti-Russian sanctions.
