European businesses not planning to leave Russia over Skripal case — diplomat

Russia’s EU envoy Vladimir Chizhov recently met with EU businessmen operating in Russia

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. European businesses are not planning to quit their Russian projects over the so-called Skripal case, Russia’s EU envoy Vladimir Chizhov has told the Rossiya-24 TV channel broadcast.

"When all those events were in full swing, I was accepting a delegation of the leadership of the Association of European Businesses in Russia in Brussels. This is a prominent organization that unites several dozens of companies working on the Russian market," Chizhov said. "Not only they assured me that they have no plans to curtail their activities, but even said that their contacts in Brussels revealed that there is readiness to develop cooperation."

At a summit on March 22-23, the leaders of EU countries passed a decision to recall EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer for consultations in a show of solidarity with the United Kingdom over the incident involving poisoning for former Russian military intelligence officer Sergei Skripal in Britain’s Salisbury.
