Russian embassy asks UK diplomats to issue visa to Skripal’s niece

After reports that Yulia’s condition had improved and she regained consciousness, her cousin Victoria said she wanted to visit Yulia in London

LONDON, April 3. /TASS/. The Russian embassy in London has requested UK diplomats to issue a visa to former intelligence colonel Sergei Skripal’s niece, Victoria, a Russian embassy spokesman said on Tuesday.

"Today we sent a note to the UK embassy in Moscow, requesting a British visa for Sergei Skripal’s niece, Victoria. Several days ago, we have informed the British side about (Victoria’s) plans. We hope that our request will be considered as soon as possible, as required by the situation," the spokesman said.

On March 4, Sergei Skripal, who had been convicted in Russia of spying for Great Britain and later swapped for Russian intelligence officers, and his daughter Yulia suffered the effects of an alleged nerve agent in the British city of Salisbury. After reports that Yulia’s condition had improved and she regained consciousness, Victoria said she wanted to visit her cousin in London.
