North Korean top diplomat may visit Russia soon

The visit is under consideration, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said

MOSCOW, March 29. /TASS/. The North Korean top diplomat’s visit to Russia is under consideration and may take place in the near future, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"Things are currently under consideration but it is possible to say that the visit is an immediate prospect," she said in response to a question about the possibility of the visit of the North Korean foreign minister to Russia.

Zakharova added that an additional announcement would be made about the dates and level of the expected contacts between the two countries.

North Korea's leader and his visit to China 

Kim Jong-un’s visit to China may help resolve the situation on the Korean Peninsula, Maria Zakharova pointed out, adding that Moscow welcomed any efforts aimed at easing regional tensions.

"We consider equal and mutually beneficial contacts between countries as an important aspect of international relations," she said. "We believe any activity that may ease tensions on the Korean Peninsula should be welcome," Zakharova added.

According to the Russian diplomat, Moscow also believes that "such activities and this kind of summits may boost bilateral relations and at the same time help resolve the Korean Peninsula issue," she said.
