Nearly seven million Russians watched Putin’s annual news conference

The president's annual news conference took place on December 14, lasting for three hours and 50 minutes

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. As many as 6.97 mln Russians over the age of 18 watched Russian President Vladimir Putin’s annual news conference broadcast live on the Channel One, Rossiya 1 and Rossiya 24 TV channels on December 14, the Mediascope research company told TASS on Monday.

According to Mediascope, the news conference had a rating of 11.7% (the average number of people watching the broadcast as a percentage of the total population). At the same time, its audience share (percentage of household audiences tuned to the broadcast) was 55.7%.

Putin’s annual news conference took place on December 14, lasting for three hours and 50 minutes. A total of 55 people managed to ask him questions.

As many as 1,640 people were accredited for the news conference, which is a record number. The 2017 news conference lasted for three hours and 50 minutes, with 48 reporters asking their questions. The shortest of Putin’s news conferences lasted for one hour and 33 minutes back in 2001, while the 2008 event set the record as being the longest one, lasting for four hours and 40 minutes.
