North Korean conflict may be settled by diplomatic means only, top diplomat says

The situation on the Korean Peninsula remains extremely tense

NEW DELHI, December 11. /TASS/. The conflict on the Korean Peninsula can be settled only through a political and diplomatic way in accordance with the Russian-Chinese roadmap, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday after the 15th RIC (Russia, India and China) ministerial meeting.

"We shared our opinions regarding the situation on the Korean Peninsula that remains extremely tense," Lavrov noted. "We pointed to the absence of an alternative to the solution of the specified problem solely by political and diplomatic means: in line with the Russian-Chinese roadmap."

The situation on the Korean Peninsula remains extremely tense. In 2017, North Korea carried out 20 ballistic missile launches. The United States and its allies, for their part, are constantly conducting far-reaching sea drills in the region. The parties are exchanging tough rhetoric and admit that any scenario - including military action - is possible.
