Anti-Russian rhetoric used to justify violations of OSCE principles, Lavrov says

According to Russia’s top diplomat, the Euro-Atlantic security architecture is currently not in its prime

VIENNA, December 8. /TASS/. Some countries use anti-Russian rhetoric about hybrid threats to justify their own violations of OSCE principles, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters at a news conference in Vienna on Friday following meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.

"A number of countries use unsubstantiated rhetoric about Russian propaganda, hybrid threats to shrug off responsibility for numerous flagrant violations of the principles that form the basis for the OSCE activities," he said.

According to Russia’s top diplomat, the Euro-Atlantic security architecture is currently not in its prime.

"Military and political tensions are mounting, including as a result of NATO’s policy aimed at containing Russia, eastward expansion, including efforts to beef up its potential there," he went on to say. "The crackdown on dissent, media freedom, language and education rights, and, of course, the unceasing growth of neo-Nazi trends, which triggers no proper response, including in the EU, spark concern."
