Ukrainian conflict ‘far from being resolved’ — senior Russian legislator

Ukraine has created so many extra problems hindering the country’s reunification, according to Konstantin Kosachev

BERLIN, December 5. /TASS/. The conflict in Ukraine is far from being settled because Kiev has dug itself into a rut that it is impossible to get out of by creating more problems than it can resolve, a senior Russian lawmaker said on Tuesday.

"Ukraine has created so many extra problems hindering the country’s reunification that I think we are far from any solution to this conflict, either political or military," Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the international committee of Russia’s Federation Council (upper house), said at a foreign policy forum in Berlin.

According to Kosachev, the European Union is making a big mistake pinning all the blame for the non-fulfilment of the Minsk agreements on Russia. "Moscow has sway on the DPR and LPR (the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics) but we are not going to exert any pressure on them to push them towards any solution," he stressed.
