Russian ambassador notes positive attitudes of people he met in California

However, the Anatoly Antonov stressed, many U.S. reporters were interested not in "real, deep problems of the Russian-American relations," but in minor issues and "hoaxes."

FORT ROSS PARK /California/, December 3. /TASS/. Russia’s Ambassador to the U.S. Anatoly Antonov told reporters on Saturday the people, he met during a trip to California, demonstrated positive attitudes and expressed interest to development of the Russian-American relations.

"Today’s visit to Fort Ross actually finalizes my first trip of the country," he said. "I have spent four days, four busy days in the state of California, where I have managed to meet very many people: those are businesses, scientists, students, and just residents."

"Most importantly, I, unlike what I can see on television, which I watch in Washington, have not felt any hostility. Not towards myself, nor to the Russian Federation," he continued. "People would come up to me, worried about the current state of the Russian-American relations."

"Many would say: We cannot understand what happens in Washington, we cannot see any problems for development of the Russian-American relations," he added.

However, the ambassador stressed, many U.S. reporters, who wanted to talk to him during the trip to California, were interested not in "real, deep problems of the Russian-American relations," but in minor issues and "hoaxes.".
