Russia’s role in settling military conflicts grows, Security Council secretary says

Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev emphasized the growing potential of Russia’s armed forces and the pace of rearming the army and the navy

MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev has pointed to Russia’s growing role in settling military conflicts and crises and in tackling other major international problems.

"Russia plays a greater role in tackling major international problems, settling military conflicts and crises and ensuring strategic stability," he said at a conference titled Crucial Issues of Ensuring Russia’s National Security.

Patrushev emphasized the growing potential of Russia’s armed forces and the pace of rearming the army and the navy.

"Conditions have been created for reviving the traditions of Russian army, improving the material status of military personnel, which has enhanced the prestige of military service and its attractiveness to youth," Patrushev said.

"Russian society has achieved greater consolidation on the basis of universal values, such as freedom and independence, humanism, inter-ethnic peace and unity of cultures of Russia’s multi-ethnic population, respect for family traditions and patriotism, which constitute the basis of statehood," Patrushev said.
