MOSCOW, March 27. /TASS/. A NATO-Russia Council meeting is due to take place in the very near future, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Meshkov told reporters on Monday.

"The NATO-Russia Council’s meeting will be held soon," the diplomat said, adding that the sides are now finalizing the date.

No agenda of the meeting has been confirmed, he said. "Each side will raise the issues, which are of interest to it."

German media reports said the NATO-Russia Council’s meeting will be held on March 30.

The NATO-Russia Council (NRC), established at the NATO-Russia summit in Rome in May 2002, was conceived a tool for consultation, consensus-building, cooperation, joint decision and joint action. In April 2014, the alliance suspended all practical cooperation between NATO and Russia including in the NRC amid events in Ukraine. However, it agreed to keep channels of communication open in the NRC to allow the exchange of views.
