Senate speaker marks thaw in Russia’s ties with OSCE Parliamentary Assembly

The Federation Council’s speaker Valentina Matviyenko referred to the winter session of the OSCE PA where a Russian parliamentary delegation took "most active part"

MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. The leadership of the European security agency’s Parliamentary Assembly demonstrates a constructive mood and Russia feels a thaw in relations with this organization, Russian upper house’s Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said while meeting with the head of the French Senate’s commission for foreign affairs and defense, Jean-Pierre Raffarin.

The Federation Council’s speaker referred to the winter session of the OSCE PA that recently ended in Vienne and where a Russian parliamentary delegation took "most active part".

"We have already met twice with the OSCE PA President Christine Muttonen. We appreciate her constructive approach towards a uniting agenda, towards good news, we clearly feel a warning in relations with this parliamentary structure," Matviyenko said.

Matviyenko expressed hope for "constructive joint work of Russian and French lawmakers" at the summer session of the OSCE PA in Minsk, the capital city of Belarus. "We could even jointly prepare some proposals, some resolutions through combining efforts," the speaker added.
