ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 15. /TASS/. Terrorist attacks have been prevented in Crimea and Russia’s southern Rostov region, Russian president’s envoy in the Southern federal district Vladimir Ustinov said on Thursday.
"In the recent period, terrorists attacks targeting crowded places, vital and military infrastructure facilities have been prevented in the Republic of Crimea and the Rostov region. People who plotted these attacks have been detained," he said.
"Analysis of the situation in the sphere of counteracting terrorism and extremism, public security, the assessment of the recent development in some regions of our district reveals a number of problems that require additional response measures both from law enforcers and executive authorities," he noted, adding that the overall situation in the Southern federal district is stable.
According to Ustinov, law enforcement agencies have been demonstrating increased activity in terms of exposing and eliminating extremism, including in the internet.
