MOSCOW, December 14. /TASS/. Attempts to blame Russian President Vladimir Putin for Brexit indicate that politicians in the UK lack professionalism and are not very successful, Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters on Wednesday.
"This indicates a rather primitive, short-sighted and unprofessional approach taken by politicians who prefer all kinds of false reports and horror stories thus trying to substitute the absence of real actions and success in politics," Peskov said commenting on remarks by a British lawmaker who claimed that Russia and President Putin personally interfered in the Brexit referendum.
Some media reports earlier quoted Ben Bradshaw, a Labor MP, as saying that it is "highly probable" that Russia interfered in the UK’s Brexit referendum. The politician claimed that Moscow’s likely interference in the vote would fit a pattern for meddling in other countries’ affairs, including the US presidential campaign.
