MOSCOW, December 5. /TASS/. Russia’s Permanent Representative to the European Union Vladimir Chizhov said on Monday he hopes Aleppo’s liberation from terrorists will pave the way for political dialogue.
"I am optimistic. And I hope the situation, when clarified, including after Aleppo in liberated, will pave the way to the resumption of the political process, the necessity of which is called to question by no one," he said in an interview with the Rossiya-24 television channel.
At the same time, the Russian diplomat noted no reaction is likely to follow from the European Union to the shelling of the Russian hospital in Aleppo. "I daresay no official reaction will follow from the European Union. In situations like this, the European Union prefers to dissociate itself from its member countries saying it is not a military bloc," he said. "We can count only on condolences.".
