Foreign Ministry: Information on arrest of Russian teen adopted in US needs to be verified

The Fox 4 TV channel earlier reported that the US police had arrested a teenager from Russia on suspicion of murdering his adoptive parents

MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Information about the detention of a teenager from Russia on suspicion of killing his adoptive parents should be verified, Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, Konstantin Dolgov, told TASS on Friday.

"This information has only appeared in the media, it needs to be verified," Dolgov said. "It will be possible to assess the situation only after data is received through official channels."

The Fox 4 TV channel earlier reported that the police in Crowley, Texas, detained a 17-year-old teenager on November 29 after an anonymous telephone call. The anonymous caller said Carl Brewer admitted killing his parents when they were smoking marijuana together.

The police went to the house the young man lived in and found the bodies of his adoptive parents, Troy Gene Brewer, 60, and Mary Sheldon Brewer, 64, inside. Both had multiple gunshot wounds.

When the police arrived, the teenager was on the second floor. The police had to use tear gas to force him to leave the house and surrender.

The TV channel said that the arrested teenager had been adopted from Russia.
