Eurasian Economic Union hopes for improving Russian-US ties under Trump administration

A diplomat says Moscow expects from new US authorities not only promising statements but also real steps

WASHINGTON, November 29. /TASS/. The member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) hope for normalization of Russian-US relations under the new Republican Administration of Donald Trump.

This was confirmed at the third annual conference "Business with EAEU" organized by the Washington-based center "Eurasia" and the business coalition of the same name on the basis of Russia’s Trade Representation in Washington.

Advisor in the Russian Embassy Andrey Bondarev told TASS that among participants in the conference were diplomats from EAEU member countries (Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia), as well as from China. No US officials attended, but American entrepreneurs, lawyers, scientists and experts were present.

"Everybody was talking about the new US Administration and emerging hope for improving relations - both with Russia and with Eurasian Economic Union in general," the diplomat said. However, he stressed that Moscow expects from new US authorities not only promising statements but also real steps.
